Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
Well everyone knows what fruit is. Its that tasty stuff that you're supposed to eat 5 times a day. Eating fruit makes you feel good immediately and has lasting health benefits when you consistently eat it over time.
Fruit is also defined as the result or reward of work or activity, as in the fruits of our labor. It is the end result of doing something worthwhile. The fruit of the Spirit is a daily reward we get to enjoy for living an honest, responsible, God-fearing life. And among those rewards are love, joy, and peace. The wonderful thing about these fruits is, that by enjoying them, we get closer to God (the Spirit). And the closer we get to God, the more fruit we get to enjoy. Pretty cool, huh?
So today eat your fruit. Enjoy these rewards that God has given us for living a right and good life. Its good for you AND it will make you feel good. --Lady S.

Moments for Mommy - Ice cream, ice cream... all kids like ice cream!
Wake up. School. Homework. Dinner. Bath-time. Sleep.
REPEAT.
This might be the exact same schedule of your school-age children. How about throwing in something fun during the week? My suggestion: ICE CREAM!
A gallon of ice cream costs on average five bucks. That's a cheap way to throw some fun into what seems like a monotonous routine for kids. If you don't want to go and buy a gallon of your favorite ice cream, you can try Mickey D's or Burger King. McDonald's has a soft serve cone that's around $1, and Burger King has a sister of the Slurpee for around the same price.
Treat your little ones every once in a while; they will definitely come to look forward to those ice cream days!

Daily Word - God loves you!
1 John 4:16
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Have you ever been in a relationship where you didn't know if your feelings were reciprocated? Doesn't feel to good. That isn't that case with God. He loves us no matter what. Even when we feel down about things that we have done, or have not done, that push us away from Him - He still shows us unconditional love.
With God loves, we have endless possibilities. He can save you, raise you, and bring you through whatever you are going through. Throughout your day today, if you can't trust in anything else, know this:

Daily Word: Thank You!
1Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give
thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.
Have you ever sat
down to pray and didn’t know what to say? Perhaps you knew there was a lot to
be thankful for, but you didn’t necessarily know how to say thank you? Well, simply
lift your hands and say “I just want to THANK YOU, LORD for being so good to me.”
Did God wake you up this morning? Do you have a reasonable portion of health
and strength? Isn’t that reason enough to give God thanks? Everything may not be as you desire, but God
is still God in spite of your trials and tribulations.
Praise God today for bringing you this far. Praise him for
the endless possibilities that abound. Praise him for the privilege to still
among the living. Whatever your situation, as long as God has preserved you to
take another breath, there is hope. Remember that you have countless reasons to
lift up your head and give thanks unto God, and that there are hundreds, if not
thousands of people, who would trade places with you in a heartbeat. Thank God for all that you have, all that you
do not have, and all that you will receive.
The Bible declares in Psalms, “O give thanks unto the Lord for he is
good and his mercy endureth forever.” ~Lady A
Domestic Diva Corner: From the non-domestic diva
Disclaimer: I am NOT a domestic diva. I am not the person that you go to for help furnishing a new apartment or for the perfect dessert recipe. Those are things to talk to Lady A and Lady R about. Right now, on the domestic front, my needs are much more basic. Keep the house clean. Keep the children clean and fed. Keep my bedroom from looking like a disaster zone.
When my son was born, it became clear that I couldn't do things the way that I used to. Too many things had changed. I now had an infant AND a preschooler. (YIKES). My husband and I both had full-time jobs. I no longer had leisurely weekday afternoons to dedicate to cleaning and laundry like I did when I only worked part-time.
In order to combat the feelings of inadequacies that come from not having a Martha Stewart approved home, I have come up with the following action plan:
Step One - Acknowledge that I can't do it all and cut myself some slack. Yes, its true that traditionally the woman is in charge of the household, but there is nothing traditional about me and I'm ok with that. My husband is an extraordinary cook and actually enjoys cooking. Why should I beat myself up for not being the one to prepare the family meals? That's just silly. Besides, my husband and I are a team. I'm fortunate that I don't have to do it all.
Step Two - Identify the things that I can do and make a plan. I enjoy cleaning and organizing and getting rid of (donating) things that we don't need. Each day of the week, I aim to spend 15 uninterrupted minutes cleaning and/or organizing some part of the house. I want to be realistic about what I can accomplish everyday, because at this point my son is just a little guy and he doesn't care about schedules or bedtime just yet. And my daughter could care less about the importance of cleaning. And quite frankly, by the time I get home from work... I'm tired. Plus I like to prioritize quality time with my family over and above anything domestic. So, if its time to watch Backyardigans Pirate Camp together for the 500th time, organizing the bookshelf will have to wait.
Step Three - Ask for help. I have every intention of hiring a cleaning lady. I first thought that a cleaning lady was for those who are ballin out. But after doing some preliminary research, I've discovered that having someone come in to do a deep clean is not just for the rich and famous. If hiring someone is out of the budget, recruit some loving family members and friends and have a cleaning party. Put on some good music, have some tasty snacks, and break out the cleaning cloves. I know that probably sounds pretty corny, but I bet your friends and family will love it when you do it all over again at their house next month.
I'll let you guys know how my plan works out. Who knows? Maybe by this time next month I'll be calling myself the semi-domestic diva! --Lady S.

Daily Word: Treat Yourself Nicely
Psalm 19:14: Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
When it comes to our interactions with other people, the golden rule applies: Do unto others as you would them do unto you. We know that we should treat each person we encounter with dignity and respect; that we shouldn't gossip; that we shouldn't belittle anyone; that we shouldn't tell lies. The words that we say carry weight. Mean, hurtful, negative words have lasting impacts on the hearer as well as the speaker. Studies have shown that negative speech and negative attitudes even have negative health implications. So it makes good sense that we be positive, that we speak positivity, and that we treat each other nicely. But do we extend the same courtesy to ourselves?
I confess that I am my biggest critic. I criticize myself for flaking out on plans. I berate myself for making mistakes. I feel disappointed in myself for not being able to keep my house as clean as I want, or cook 4 course meals the way that I'd like. No one is harder on me than I am. But is that attitude acceptable in the sight of the LORD? Probably not.
The fact of the matter is that I need to cut myself some slack and remember that I am a child of God. God doesn't want me talking about me to me any old kinda way.(Bet you can't say that 5 times fast!) He expects that I will be mindful of the words that come out of my mouth and the contents of my heart, even when the words and thoughts are directed towards myself.
So today, let the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart be positive, especially when it comes to YOU. Treat yourself just as nicely as you would expect someone else to treat you. --Lady S.

Daily Word - Rejoice in all things!
Philippians 4: 4-5
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Consider yourself today.
Do you have a place to lay your head at night?
Do you know where your next meal is coming from?
Most likely the answer is yes, and these are some of the many reasons we all have to be glad.
Without getting into what you are waiting for, hoping for, wishing for (that you have not received YET): focus on what you do have, and remind yourself to be happy with whatever that is. I am not asking you to be complacent; you always want to strive for something more. However, in this moment, in every moment - remember to be thankful for your blessings, both great and small!
Let's make today a GREAT one!
- Lady R.
